David is a French teacher just across the Channel in London, so it's easy for him to come to see us almost every year. Actually, he doesn't need instruction in French all that much. His accent and mastery of grammar are almost perfect. Why, then, does he bother to come to La Ferme?

David realises, as do most other language teachers, that it is not easy to maintain proficiency in a language if you don't live in a country where it is spoken. One reason is that languages are always changing, and it's easier to keep up with those changes in the country where they are happening. Some teachers also find that their accents tend to become corrupted after listening to their students all year long. So David makes it a point to come to France as often as he can, and especially to relax at La Ferme and bring his French up to date with Mireille.

David also says that La Ferme is also a good place to find new teaching resources - not only artifacts, but also information on the latest FLE texts, photocopiable materials, and audio and video cassettes.

By the way, if you need a French teacher in London, let us know and we'll put you in touch with David.
